Policy & Strategy

We believe that impactful and enduring policies are more than words on a page. They articulate a clear purpose, capture the texture of a place and community, provide a measurable framework for future decision-making and deliver practical actions to deliver the vision.

We are policy experts that have significant experience working with state government, local councils and their communities, developing strategies across a broad portfolio including social, landuse, engagement, and cultural policy. We work with multi-disciplinary teams to provide the technical expertise and listen to communities to understand their needs, experience and aspirations - both which are critical to shaping practical policies and solutions.

North Sydney Social Inclusion Study and Strategy

  • Client: North Sydney Council

  • Completed: August 2024

  • Services: Strategy Development; Community Engagement; Research

As part of a significant review of North Sydney Council’s strategies, TPS was engaged to prepare a Social Inclusion Study and strategy directions that would inform the review of Council’s Community Strategic Plan.

The project delivered three interdependent parts - baseline research, engagement and strategy development and actions. The baseline research included demographic analysis and assessment of social infrastructure, programs and services.

Engagement included workshop sessions, survey, focus groups and the design/delivery of the Voice of Young People forum with primary school and high school aged children and young people.

The final study provides Council with a comprehensive evidence base to support the strategic directions and actions to guide decisions that contribute to the North Sydney LGA being a connected, inclusive and welcoming community and place.

TPS was engaged to draft a new Multicultural Action Plan that clearly demonstrates the value of the Sutherland Shire’s multicultural communities and Council’s commitment to being a culturally inclusive community.
